I currently own a Hyundai Verna 1.5 Turbo DCT and am looking to upgrade to an executive sedan. My options include the Toyota Camry Hybrid, Audi A4, BMW 330Li, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. My usage is around 70% city driving, with an annual running of 10,000 to 15,000km. Please suggest the best option.
Out of the cars you've mentioned, the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Audi A4 are similarly priced in the mid-50 lakh, while the Mercedes C-Class and BMW 330Li are priced north of Rs 65 lakhs, which creates a huge delta in terms of pricing.
For mostly city usage, the Camry hybrid is a brilliant option. It offers a plush cabin, ride quality is extremely comfy, and being a hybrid, it will be very fuel-efficient. Its backseat feels the comfiest of the cars you've listed, too. And even though it drives well and has plenty of power on demand, the e-CVT can sound a bit strained when driven aggressively.
For similar money as a Camry (or even less after discounts), the Audi A4 gets an outstanding 2.0-litre turbo-petrol + dual-clutch automatic combination which delivers plenty of performance. Moreover, the cabin quality and overall fit-finish are a few notches above the Toyota, and its ride quality feels plush. However, its back seat isn't as comfy as the Camry, so if you are going to be regularly seated at the back, opt for the Camry hybrid instead.
Between the BMW 3-series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the BMW is more rounded. It feels nicer to drive and be driven in; cabin space is better, backseat is comfier; and its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivers stronger performance than the C200, which gets a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol.

Hi, I am planning to buy a pre-owned sedan (yes, we still exist). I have shortlisted a 2021 Hyundai Elantra (VTVT, manual, 32,000 km) and a 2018 Audi A4 (automatic, 65,000 km), both priced at around ₹13 lakh. Which one would you recommend? Purpose: daily driver with around 1,000 miles of highway driving per month.
The Audi A4 is a very nice sedan, and between the two, purely going on product merits, we would recommend it over the Hyundai Elantra. It delivers a comfy ride and enough space and comfort, the interiors are well built and have a quality feel to them, and the engine too is very refined and delivers a strong performance.
However, buying them used means you must bear in mind that the A4 is an older car and with the higher mileage too, plus being a segment above the Elantra, expect to have to spend more on service costs.

I currently own a 2018 Honda City VX Petrol Manual and am considering upgrading to a luxury sedan only. I'm interested in models like the Toyota Camry, Audi A4, and similar options. While the Camry appeals to me, I have concerns about its road presence and cabin noise levels. Given the recent GST reductions and speculation about potential price increases next year, I'm uncertain whether to purchase now or wait. Could you provide guidance on whether to buy this year or wait, and recommend suitable luxury sedan options?
Between the two, the Audi A4 offers a luxury badge, a strong 2.0-litre petrol engine, excellent ride quality, and comfortable seats despite its age. On the other hand, the new Toyota Camry is equally impressive.
Its hybrid powertrain is smooth and refined, cabin insulation is very good, and the rear seat, with powered recline and centre armrest controls for audio and climate, is a superb place to be. The ride quality is also comfortable, and it retains its value much better than most luxury brands, such as Mercedes, BMW, or Audi.
