Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra and TVS Motor Company Chairman Emeritus Venu Srinvasan have been appointed as non-official directors on the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Central board.
According to the RBI Act, the government nominates 10 eminent persons from various fields to the central board of the RBI. This board oversees the day-to-day functioning of the top bank. These RBI board members do not engage themselves in monetary policy matters, but provide a broader vision for the central bank.
Another automotive figure on the RBI board was Tata Sons chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran, but his term ended recently.
