Google Maps India update: Narrow roads, flyover callouts

The AI tool estimates road widths and helps four-wheeler drivers avoid narrow ones when possible. In case it's unavoidable, the app alerts users so they can proceed cautiously or choose an alternate route.

The flyover alerts have been introduced in 40 Indian cities to help users anticipate upcoming flyovers. This feature is available on Android apps and Android Auto for both four-wheelers and two-wheelers, with iOS and CarPlay support coming soon.

Google Maps India update: EV charging stations

The company has partnered with ElectricPe, Ather, Kazam and Statiq to provide EV charging station details on Google Maps and Google Search in India. This includes plug types (including those for two-wheelers) and real-time availability, with India being the first country to offer this for two-wheelers.

Google Maps India update: Other features

Other new features include metro ticket bookings in Kochi and Chennai, curated lists of favorite spots from local experts, and an easier way to report road incidents. Traffic mishaps can now be reported with a few taps, and road incidents reported by others can be confirmed with a single tap.

The lack of these features has been a pain point for Google Maps users for years, but the company has now finally addressed them
