Mahindra Racing, in collaboration with Pininfarina, its recently acquired design house, has released three concept designs for its future Formula E racing car.

The released images offer a glimpse into the design of the car and chassis for the fifth season of the FIA Formula E. Likely to be called the M5Electro, the innovative designs for the car are a creative stage project, said Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group.

Pininfarina joined the Mahindra Group in December 2015. Known as the design studio that virtually shaped Ferrari, the Italian coach-builder has many Alfa Romeos and cars like the Ferrari FF, Maserati Quattroporte GT Sport, Fiat 124 Spyder and the Ferrari 458 Italia based Ferrari SP12 EC (a one-off car built for English musician Eric Clapton) to its credit. Under the Mahindra umbrella, its recent design, the H2 Speed hydrogen supercar concept was awarded Best Concept at the 2016 Geneva motor show.

Chief creative officer of Pininfarina Fabio Filippini commented, "Formula E is one of the most exciting signs of the changes underway in the automotive world as well as in motor racing. A possible contribution of Pininfarina to the future development of a Formula E car would be a highly motivating challenge, fully consistent with our mission of creators and innovators in the automotive field".

Mahindra Racing aims to stimulate conversation on future Formula Etechnology, and will entertain discussions and ideas for the same on its Facebook, Twitter and Instagram handles under the hashtag #FormulaEConcepts.
