In July 2018, Harley-Davidson revealed a radical new product plan that will see a sub-500cc Harley-Davidson for India, an all-new adventure tourer along with a streetfighter, and a range of electric bikes. One of these bikes is the Harley-Davidson LiveWire, a motorcycle that we rode in concept form a few years ago. Last week, Harley-Davidson celebrated its 115th anniversary and showcased the production version of its first electric motorcycle.

The Livewire will be manufactured at Harley’s American production facility in York, Pennsylvania and is likely to go on sale by August 2019. The new images reveal many small changes over the original concept bike. The most distinctive new design highlight is the body-coloured headlight cowl. Other visual updates include a redesigned fuel tank, tail section and seats. The production bike also features a different swingarm.  The slim tank has a conventional fuel cap that hides the charging port.

As one would expect from a modern-day, premium electric motorcycle, it will feature a lot of tech. Lighting will be all-LED and the instrument cluster will be a full colour screen. The electric bike also has smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth for calls, navigation, music and for running vehicle diagnostics. The production-spec LiveWire has been equipped with twin disc Brembo monoblocks instead of the single-disc unit as seen on the concept. Suspension hardware has also been updated with fully-adjustable Showa suspension front and rear.

As of now, Harley has not announced details with regards to engine output, range and, of course, price for the LiveWire. Watch this space for more.
