With the launch of the Jawa 42 Bobber, there are now two options in the bobber segment. The 42 Bobber is an amalgamation of the neo-retro roadster, the Jawa 42, and the Perak bobber, although its silhouette has more in common with the latter. Here are 5 things you need to know about this stylish yet affordable bobber that is sold alongside the Jawa Perak.
Jawa 42 Bobber: Engine
Powering the 42 Bobber is a 334cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that makes 30.64hp and 32.64Nm or torque, and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This engine has been borrowed from the Perak, where it makes the same peak output figures.
Jawa 42 Bobber: Design
The design of the 42 Bobber stays true to its namesake, with a low-slung, single scooped-out seat, and chopped fenders. It gets a different tank to the Perak, with tank pads integrated into the knee recesses. The exhaust tips also have a touch of chrome, compared to the Perak’s completely blacked-out exhaust.
Jawa 42 Bobber: Underpinnings
Underpinning the stylish 42 Bobber is a tubular double-cradle frame, suspended by a telescopic fork and a seven-step adjustable monoshock. Braking duties are handled by a 280mm disc at the front and 240mm disc at the rear, paired to dual-channel ABS. The 42 Bobber features a very accessible 750mm seat height and when its 14-litre fuel tank is brimmed up, it weighs 175kg.
Jawa 42 Bobber: Features
The 42 Bobber features a round negative LCD display and LED lighting all around. It also gets a small luggage rack mounted to the rear fender and a two-way adjustable seat.
Jawa 42 Bobber: Colours, price, rivals
The Jawa 42 Bobber can be had in a choice of three colours: Mystic Copper (Rs 2.06 lakh), Moonstone White (Rs 2.07 lakh) and Jasper Red (Rs 2.09 lakh). Its top variant is priced identically to the Perak. Owing to its single-seat design, it has no natural rivals outside of its blacked-out cousin, the Perak.
