After the Maybach range caught the attention of luxury car buyers, Mercedes-Benz has decided to bring in two more models – the S 560 and the S 650. Both cars are already BS-VI-compliant but can also use our current BS-IV fuel. They are priced at Rs 1.94 crore for the S 560 and Rs 2.73 crore for S 650 (all prices ex-showroom).
The S 560 is powered by a V8 petrol motor. The S 650, however, gets a massive 6.0-Litre V12 petrol mill – the same as the one on the AMG S 65. Under the hood of the S 650, the V12 produces 630hp at 5,000rpm and a humongous 1,000Nm of peak torque at 2,300rpm to 4,200 rpm. The S 650 is equipped with driver-assist features like a radar-based driving assistance system and 'Magic Body Control' that detects road undulations, in advance. Moreover, it also gets a new triple-torch design, multi-beam headlamps, new LED tail-lamps and advanced telematics.
Since the Maybach is primarily a chauffeur-driven car, Mercedes has given it a large helping of creature comforts. Among the highlights there are some worth mentioning, like the 'Magic Roof' with embedded lights mimicking a night sky and the executive seats that are standard with multiple adjustments for the backrest, seat-angle and height. Moreover, the seats are ventilated and get full-body-massage functions and the front co-passenger seat can be pushed all the way forward with the touch of a button, making ample room for the rear passenger to stretch out. The cabin has a curved wood-trim finish which extends to the linings of the seats' backrests, the doors and the rear aircon vents.
