Citroen has previewed the all-new C5 Aircross in concept form ahead of the Paris Motor Show 2024. The Citroen C5 Aircross concept gets sharp looks with some design bits that are similiar to the newer Citroen models sold overseas.

    1. New C5 Aircross will be larger than outgoing model
    2. Will come with multiple powertrain options
    3. Global debut slated for 2025

Next-gen C5 Aircross: What does the concept reveal

The concept SUV has a muscular yet slippery design inspired by the unconventional Citroen Oli concept of 2022. The C5 Aircross Concept has been conceived with interior space and efficiency as the main priorities, so the plug-in hybrid variant gets more electric-only range than its predecessor.

The concept previews design cues that will be seen on the production-spec C5 Aircross debuting next year. It gets a lower nose, flatter sculpting all around and a sharply raked roofline. Other additions include Citroen’s new logo, a three-point light signature and simplified front and rear ends, similar to the recently launched European-spec C3. At the back, the concept features a pair of protruding (floating) lights – which Citroen has dubbed Light Wings – that guide airflow.

The concept is 4,650mm long and 1,660mm tall, which makes it 150mm longer and 39mm shorter than the outgoing C5 Aircross. Citroen claims that this results in more legroom for all five passengers. The cabin will be shown next year when the production-spec SUV breaks cover.

At the back, its rear overhang has also been extended, indicating it will offer more boot space than the outgoing model's 580 litres. Citroen hasn’t confirmed the width of the concept but has said that it has a wider track.

New C5 Aircross is first Citroen based on STLA M platform

The new C5 Aircross will be the first Citroen model to be based on parent firm Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform (recently introduced on the Peugeot e-3008). So it can be fitted with a combustion, hybrid or pure-electric powertrain. The same platform will also underpin the next-gen Jeep Compass that is due in 2025.

Expect more details on the next-gen C5 Aircross to be revealed as its global debut nears.
