Mahindra XUV700 prices are up by Rs 46,000-81,000.

Mahindra has hiked the prices for a number of their models in January 2022, including the XUV700, Thar and Scorpio SUVs. As is the case with most manufacturers, Mahindra has hiked prices at the start of the new year, most likely to account for rising operational and input costs.

Mahindra XUV700 price hike

The Mahindra XUV700 was one of the most anticipated models of 2021 and the carmaker surprised everyone with its aggressive starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). However, on the back of its great demand, the carmaker first hiked prices for the XUV700 in October 2021. Hence, this now represents the second price hike for the SUV.

The XUV700 petrol is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, Mahindra mStallion turbo-petrol unit that’s tuned to produce 200hp and 380Nm. It is available with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options, though the entry-level MX variant is available with a manual only.

For the petrol variants, Mahindra has hiked prices of the XUV700 in the range of Rs 46,000-75,000. The base MX MT 5-seater variant gets the lowest price hike while, the range-topping AX7 AT Luxury 7-seater variant sees the highest price hike this month.

Meanwhile, the diesel XUV700 is powered by a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder mHawk turbocharged unit that comes in two states of tune. The lower-powered unit (reserved for the entry-level MX version) produces 155hp and 360Nm, while the unit in the AX variants churns out 185hp and 420Nm (450Nm with the automatic gearbox). The diesel engine also comes with an all-wheel-drive option and gets four drive modes – Zip, Zap, Zoom and Custom – which are claimed to alter performance and steering response. Both engines can be had with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox options, though the lower-spec diesel is available with a manual only.

Owing to the price hike, the XUV700 diesel now costs up to Rs 81,000 more than before. The price hike for the XUV700 diesel ranges between Rs 48,000-81,000. The variant with the highest price hike is the top-spec AX7 AT AWD Luxury 7-seater, while the variant with the lowest price hike is the base MX MT 5-seater.

Mahindra Thar price hike

While the original Thar was diesel-manual only, the second-gen model also got a petrol engine and automatic gearbox, for the first time ever. The petrol engine is a 152hp, 320Nm, 2.0-litre 'mStallion' unit that can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. A part-time four-wheel-drive system is standard with both, the petrol and the diesel versions, as is a manual-shift transfer case.

Mahindra Scorpio price hike

The venerable, current-gen Mahindra Scorpio is due to be replaced by a new-generation model by next year. Interestingly, this current model will be sold alongside the all-new model, owing to its popularity.

In terms of the engine, the Scorpio is powered by a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder mHawk turbo-diesel engine that makes 120hp and 280Nm and is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox only in the S3+ trim. The same engine puts out 140hp and 320Nm in the higher S5, S7, S9 and S11 trims and is coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
