As India continues to grapple with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, carmakers in the country have stepped forward to contribute and help in every way possible. One of those carmakers is MG Motor India, which has already announced a number of initiatives to aid COVID-19 relief efforts, and now, the company has also donated a dedicated Hector ambulance for COVID-19 patients to the state of Gujarat.

The MG Hector ambulance was handed over today by MG Motor India and Jaydrathsinh Parmar, Gujarat’s Minister of State for Agriculture, Environment and Panchayat, to the CHC Halol hospital. The custom-made Hector ambulance features essential life-saving medical equipment such as an auto-loading stretcher, an oxygen supply system with a cylinder, a medicine cabinet with five-parameter monitor, fire extinguisher, an exterior light bar with a siren and amplifier, an inverter with battery and sockets and additional interior lighting. There’s also a jump seat for an attendant, which is one half of the Hector’s original rear seat, repurposed to save costs.

MG Motor India recently announced its partnership with MAX Ventilator to aid production of ventilators, which are key in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. The carmaker has also previously handed over 100 Hector SUVs to personnel engaged in providing essential services during the nationwide lockdown, and is assessing the viability of installing in-car sterilisation technology in its models.

After the lockdown lifts, MG is set to launch the three-row Hector Plus by June, and has also confirmed the full-size MG Gloster is on track for a festive season launch.
