The all-new Mahindra Bolero is finally in the works and, as we'd recently reported, it will sit on an all-new platform. While the current Bolero line-up has multiple models, including pickups, the next-gen Bolero range is expected to diversify further with more seating, body style and powertrain options.

With the new Bolero, Mahindra will continue to aim at multiple categories of buyers, primarily in tier-2 cities. The new line-up will start with a five-seat version, which will most likely be sub-4 meter in length. This SUV will be the replacement for not just the current Bolero but also the slow-selling Bolero Neo.

What’s more, the Bolero will also spawn a larger three-row version. What is not known as of now is whether the 7-seat model will also have an under-4 meter footprint as current model. Like the Scorpio N, Mahindra will likely equip the Bolero with a forward-facing third row in the interest of passenger safety and also to qualify for a higher Bharat NCAP crash test rating.

Since the Bolero is primarily aimed at buyers in the hinterland, Mahindra will also have a much longer XL iteration, squarely aimed at the Force Citiline, which comes with four front-facing rows of seats with a seating capacity of nine passengers. Additionally, some of the wheelbase options that will be seen on the next-gen Bolero will be also used on the Mahindra pickup range, which will help with greater economies of scale and competitive pricing.

    Upoming Mahindra launches

While the new Bolero is still some time away, Mahindra is currently readying a heavily updated XUV300 SUV for launch in the coming months and is offering outgoing XUV300 at attractive discounts to clear inventory. Additionally, Mahindra is also readying updates for the XUV400 EV, and has the 5-door Thar lined up for a debut in 2024.
