Honda has released the first teaser image of the third-generation Amaze compact sedan ahead of its global debut. While the brand has not revealed any further details, we can confirm that bookings for the new Amaze are expected to commence sometime next month before the reveal.

New Honda Amaze: what does the teaser reveal?
The teaser partially shows the new Amaze’s front profile. The overall look seems to mimic newer Honda models, like the Civic sold abroad. The headlamps are much slimmer than the outgoing model’s and have angular edges. Higher variants will continue to get LED projector headlights. It also gets LED daytime running lights at the top of the headlamp unit that neatly merges into the grille. A wide chrome bar runs atop the headlamp and the grille, stretching from end to end. The new hexagonal grille is now much larger and gets a honeycomb pattern with a large Honda logo sitting bang in the centre. The bumper has large air dam recesses at each corner, which may get darkened inserts.
New Honda Amaze: what else is known?
The new Amaze has been spied testing over the last few months, and the images have hinted at slab-sided looks with some modern design touches, such as a smoky finish for the tail-lamps.
As far as powertrain options go, the new Amaze will continue to be sold with a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic. There are talks of CNG-powered variants as well, which could join the line-up later.
The new Honda Amaze will be aimed squarely at the all-new Dzire that’s slated for a November 11 launch. Apart from the new Dzire and Hyundai Aura, the Amaze also sees competition from similarly priced compact SUVs and sub-compact models such as the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter, among others. Honda has been pushing sales of the outgoing Amaze with discounts to the tune of Rs 1 lakh.
