Skoda recently launched the Slavia as the brand’s second model that’s based on the localised MQB-A0-IN platform. The Skoda Slavia is priced between Rs 10.69 lakh-17.79 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and is sure quite expensive for the dying midsize sedan segment. The Slavia, however, has many strengths, such as a stylish design, feature-packed interior and two great petrol engines, with which Skoda hopes it can revive the sedan segment.
The Slavia is available in three variants and four powertrain configurations. As far as waiting periods are concerned, most variants of the Slavia 1.0 can be delivered in around a month but the 1.5 top-spec variant will take around two months, depending on availability.
- Skoda Slavia available in Active, Ambition and Style variants
- More powerful 1.5 TSI engine reserved only for top-spec Style variant
- Top-spec Style variant available with and without sunroof
Skoda Slavia: variant break-up, engine details
Like its SUV sibling, the Kushaq, the Slavia is also available in Active, Ambition and Style variants. In all, there are eight different versions of the Slavia to choose from.
The midsize sedan is powered by either a 115hp, 175Nm, 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI engine or a 150hp, 250Nm, 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI unit. While both engines come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, automatic gearbox options include a 6-speed torque converter for the 1.0 TSI and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic for the 1.5 TSI.
The 1.0 TSI with the manual gearbox is the only powertrain available on all three variants of the Slavia, while the 1.0 TSI with automatic gearbox is offered only on the higher Ambition and Style variants, although it’s not offered on the Style variant without the sunroof. As for the 1.5 TSI engine, in both manual and automatic gearbox, is only available on the top-spec Style variant.
