In the past, Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda promised the Japanese brand would make a return to sportier cars, and now, pictures have emerged of Toyota’s ultra luxury sedan, the new Century, wearing GRMN (Gazoo Racing Masters of Nurburgring) badging and plenty of sporty bits.
Toyoda was recently seen climbing into the back seat of the Century GRMN as he set out for a meeting with the chairman of the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
As can be seen from the pictures, the exterior of this luxury sedan features quite a few changes over the standard Century, including larger multi-spoke alloy wheels wearing low-profile rubber, a subtle boot spoiler, a blacked-out body kit with red accents, a front splitter and brake calipers finished in white. The Century GRMN also looks like it has been lowered, and the number plate appears to refer to the year Sakichi Toyoda (founder of Toyota Industries and Akio Toyoda’s great-grandfather) was born.
There is no word on technical specifications as yet, but the standard model is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine, which is supplemented by an electric motor to form a hybrid system, producing 430hp in total.
