The Tata Curvv EV has launched in India, with prices starting at Rs 17.49 lakh and going up to Rs 21.99 lakh, for an introductory period. At this price point, the Curvv EV competes directly with the MG ZS EV, and also sees some overlap with the Mahindra XUV400, and the Tata Nexon EV. We put the four mass market e-SUVs together on paper.

Compared to MG Motor India’s all-electric midsize SUV, the Curvv EV’s length, height and wheelbase are 13mm, 12mm and 25mm less. While the Curvv EV has the largest wheels and boot, it is the XUV400 that is the widest SUV here, and it also has the longest wheelbase length. However, it should be noted that the Curvv is the only one here to get a frunk, which can hold up to 11.6 litres of luggage.

    *With the faster AC charger

The Curvv EV 55 variants get the largest battery pack, trailed by the MG ZS EV, and the Curvv EV 45 variants. Tata’s new EV also has the highest MIDC range, but for more details, check out our Tata Curvv EV vs rivals: range comparison.

The ZS EV is the most powerful e-SUV here, though the XUV400’s torque figure is as high as the MG’s, which is probably why it has the quickest claimed 0-100kph time. Other than the Curvv EV, all the other models here have a slower 3.3kW charger, though there is the option of a faster AC charger. The Nexon EV seems to have the fastest charging times, followed by the Curvv EV, and then the ZS EV, with the XUV400 having the slowest charging times.

    ^Introductory prices

Tata Motors has priced the Curvv EV quite well as its easily costs less than the ZS EV. Even the entry level variants overlap with the Nexon EV and XUV400, making Tata’s latest EV seem like great value for money. A proper on-road comparison will be necessary to see if this holds true, but on paper, the Tata Curvv EV definitely seems to have an edge when compared to its competition.
