- Seltos Gravity gets a new grille, alloy wheels and a unique interior shade.
- New safety features added to this new top-of-the-line trim
- 1.6-litre turbo-petrol and diesel engines offered as standard.
Kia has updated the Seltos for the 2021 model year in Korea. The midsize SUV now comes with more safety kit as standard and a new, top-end ‘Gravity’ trim. Here is a closer look at what has changed on Kia’s popular model.
What is the Kia Seltos Gravity?
The Seltos Gravity comes with a number of cosmetic touches inside and out that help differentiate itself from the lower Trend, Prestige and Signature trim levels.
Starting off, the Gravity gets a bespoke, chrome-studded front grille with hot-stamped, three-dimensional design elements. It also gets unique, dual-tone 18-inch machined alloy wheels. Adding further pizzazz is a silver finish for the wing mirrors, door garnish as well as the rear skid plate.
On the inside, the Seltos Gravity stands out with an exclusive, grey colour scheme. It is worth noting that the left-hand drive models of the Seltos sold in Korea, US and Russia get a slightly altered dashboard layout compared to the India-spec model - the most notable difference is the conjoined housing for the touchscreen and instrument binnacle on the right-hand drive version.
What new features does the Kia Seltos Gravity have?
Being the top-of-the-line trim level, the Seltos Gravity packs in added safety features like forward collision prevention assistance system (that automatically avoids collision with an oncoming vehicle at an intersection) and rear passenger notification (which reminds the driver while exiting the vehicle about passengers, like children, who might be seated at the back).
Additionally, it gets all the usual bells and whistles like a large MID in the instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with UVO connected car tech, ambient lighting, Bose sound system, automatic air conditioner, remote engine start through a key fob and a wireless phone charger.
Kia has also added more safety features as standard to the 2021 model year Seltos including lane keep assist and high beam assist functions.
Which powertrains are offered with the Kia Seltos Gravity?
The Gravity shares its running gear with the rest of the Seltos range in its home market. As such, it gets a 177hp, 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 136hp, 1.6-litre diesel mill. A 7-speed DCT automatic transmission is standard, while all-wheel drive functionality is available as an option on both the powerplants.
In comparison, the India-spec Seltos gets three engine choices – a 115hp, 1.5-litre petrol; a 140hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol; and a 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, with each engine getting its own individual automatic transmission option.
Are there India plans for the Kia Seltos Gravity?
There have been no official announcements about Kia India bringing in a new variant like the Seltos Gravity. However, the company recently rejigged the variant line-up and introduced new features to the India-spec Seltos for the 2020 model year.
The Seltos continues to battle it out with the new Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, MG Hector and Tata Harrier in our market.
