New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R launch on January 23, 2019

Maruti Suzuki will launch the all-new Wagon R in the Indian market on January 23, 2019. The new Wagon R will continue to be sold via Maruti’s Arena showroom channel, just like the outgoing model. The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R for India will be a made-for-India vehicle like its predecessor and will feature unique styling, as exclusively shown by us a few days ago.

The new Wagon R for India, as seen from the images, will continue with its slab-sided look. The model will be longer than its predecessor, with more focus expected on the second row, where more legroom and even reclining seats can be expected. The new Maruti Wagon R is likely to come with larger headlamps and a more rounded look when viewed from up front. It will also get a floating roof design similar to that seen on the Ertiga, along with subtle creases to the front and rear fenders and doors, which make the overall styling more appealing. At the back, it gets much larger tail-lamps which are now pillar-mounted, giving it a more crossover-like look.

The new Wagon R is likely to continue to be based on the outgoing model's platform, which will be tweaked to clear the latest crash test norms. The current 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine will continue as well, albeit tuned for better refinement. Also likely to be offered right from launch are a CNG mill, along with an AMT option.

The car will come feature-laden, at least on higher variants. Maruti is likely to add the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system as well along with a decent safety kit to the new Wagon R's feature list.
