Planning to buy a new car this year? We bring to you a list of all new mass-market cars that are set to be launched in India in the coming months. The new car list doesn’t only include updates for existing cars, but also a range of new models that are nearing a launch. Here is a list of the 10 new cars that will go on sale in the coming months.

Toyota Taisor

The Maruti Suzuki-Toyota partnership is set to result in yet another badge-engineered product in the form of the Maruti Fronx-based Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor. The Taisor will feature some minor styling changes, similar to the ones on the Baleno-Glanza

The 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol and 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine options will be carried over from the Fronx. Just like the Maruti SUV, the Toyota Taisor will also likely offer a CNG option with the 1.2-litre petrol engine. The crossover SUV is all set to make its debut on April 3.

Mahindra XUV300 facelift

Mahindra has been working on a mid-life update for its XUV300 for a long time, and the launch is now just around the corner. Apart from a major styling overhaul upfront and at the back, the sub-4-metre SUV will likely be equipped with a larger, free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, along with a fully digital instrument cluster. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (110hp or 131hp) and 1.5-litre diesel (117hp) will be carried over, but the former is expected to get a new torque converter automatic gearbox with its higher state of tune.

Hyundai Alcazar facelift

Following the launch of the Creta facelift and Creta N Line, Hyundai is now set to follow up with the Alcazar facelift with a launch expected in May or June. The styling updates on the Alcazar facelift will be on lines of the updated Creta, however, it is expected to feature unique bits and pieces. Along with a new dashboard with two digital displays, the Alcazar facelift will also get ADAS, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, and more.

The three-row SUV will carry on with the 1.5-litre, turbo-petrol (160hp), and 1.5-litre diesel (115hp) engines, with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Tata Altroz Racer

The Tata Altroz Racer is all set to go on sale in the coming weeks. It will be equipped with the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine as the Altroz iTurbo, but with a higher tune i.e. 120hp and 170Nm. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Apart from the ‘Racer’ badges, the Altroz Racer will feature a dual-tone paint scheme, a revised grille, and new design for the 16-inch alloy wheels.

Tata Nexon iCNG

Also on display at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 this year apart from the Altroz Racer was the Nexon CNG. It will be equipped with the same dual-cylinder technology as the Punch CNG, Tiago CNG, and Tigor CNG. The power and torque output on the 1.2-litre, turbo-petrol engine will see a slight reduction when paired with CNG.

The Tata Nexon CNG will become the first CNG car in the country with a turbo-petrol engine. Moreover, the Tata Nexon CNG could also be offered with an optional automatic gearbox.

Tata Curvv EV

After the Tata Curvv’s debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo in a close-to-production form, our sources confirmed that the company will launch the EV iteration of the SUV coupe sometime in the second quarter of FY2025 (July-September 2024). It will be based on the same platform as the Nexon, and while technical details are currently sparse, it is expected to have a 450-500km range.

While the Tata Curvv EV will have no direct rivals upon arrival, it will face competition from the likes of Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV, and even its own sibling - the Nexon EV.

Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift

The new-gen Swift will be Maruti Suzuki’s next big launch for India, set to debut in the coming months. Internally codenamed Maruti YED, the updated hatch will come equipped with Suzuki’s new Z12E 1.2-litre petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech. Design changes will be more evolutionary than revolutionary, but expect feature additions like a larger infotainment screen with connected-tech, auto climate control, LED lighting, diamond-cut alloys and more.

Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire

The all-new Swift will soon be followed by the new Dzire. The sedan was spied on test about a month ago, fully wrapped in camo. However, the design changes will be in line with the new Swift. Along with the new Z series petrol engine, there will also be a CNG option on offer with the sub-4-metre sedan.

Force Gurkha 5-door

Force Motors recently released the first teaser of the Gurkha 5-door, and we can confirm that it will be launched in the country in the first quarter of the next financial year. A test mule of the Gurkha 5-door had revealed its new shift-on-the-fly 4WD knob positioned next to the driver’s seat on the centre console. However, the Mercedes-sourced 2.6-litre diesel engine is expected to be carried over from the Gurkha 3-door.

Mahindra Thar 5-door

The Mahindra Thar 5-door has been confirmed for a launch in the middle of this year. The SUV could use the moniker ‘Thar Armada’, and will be built on a separate production line. We already know that it will come equipped with additional equipment over the Thar 3-door including 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a larger infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and even an electric sunroof. We expect the same 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines to be carried over, with both 4WD and 2WD options.
