The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has been launched in India and is the latest offering from India’s largest automaker. The all-new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is now bigger in terms of exterior dimensions, has more space on the inside and comes packed with features that have never been offered on the tall-boy hatchback before. The 2019 Wagon R takes on the likes of the Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago and Datsun Go. It is one of the highest selling cars in India, with over 22 lakh units sold so far, and the new Wagon R will only add to the figure. New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Price
Let’s start with the most important bit. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 1.0-litre’s prices start at Rs 4.19 lakh for the LXI variant, with the most expensive VXI AGS (AMT Gearbox) variant is priced at Rs 5.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Wagon R also gets a new 1.2-litre engine for the first time and is offered in four variants. The entry-level VXI variant is priced at Rs 4.89 lakh while the most expensive ZXI AGS (AMT gearbox) variant is priced at Rs 5.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is also the first time a ZXI variant has been offered on the Wagon R.
New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Engine
The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R now comes with two petrol engine options. The 1.0-litre K10 engine has been carried forward from the last-generation Wagon R and is a three-cylinder unit that makes 68hp of peak power. A new addition to the Wagon R range is the 1.2-litre K10 engine that is available in the larger Swift, Dzire and Ignis. This motor is a four-cylinder unit that makes 83hp of peak power and 113Nm of peak torque.
New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Gearbox:
The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R gets two gearbox options. The manual gearbox on the new Wagon R will be a 5-speed unit, which is similar to the one on the last-generation model. There is also an automatic transmission in the form of a 5-speed AMT or automated manual transmission option that will be offered on the new Wagon R.
New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Fuel Economy:
The Wagon R has always been a popular car with Indian families and fleet operators, as it has been a frugal car in terms of fuel economy. And the new Wagon R’s economy is impressive too, with the 1.0-litre K10 variants offering a fuel economy figure of 22.5kpl for both the 5-speed manual and the 5-speed AMT gearbox options. The new 1.2-litre engine on the Wagon R, meanwhile, offers a fuel economy of 21.5kpl.
New Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Features:
The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R comes packed with features and equipment the likes of which have never been offered on the model in the past. The top of the line ZXI variant comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top-spec variant also gets power adjustable and folding outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs). The new Maruti Suzuki Wagon R also comes with ABS, airbags and rear parking sensors as standard on all models.
