In addition to the safety equipment, Maruti Suzuki is also offering dual-tone colour options on the top-spec Alpha trim of the sedan. These updates are an attempt from Maruti Suzuki to keep the almost nine-year-old Ciaz fresh in light of newer competition in the midsize sedan segment.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz update: more safety features, colour options

The Ciaz continues to be offered with ABS, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages and dual front airbags. Do note that most of its rivals offer up to six airbags, at least on their higher variants.

Maruti Suzuki is also offering the Ciaz with three dual-tone paint options – Pearl Metallic Opulent Red, Pearl Metallic Grandeur Grey and Dignity Brown – all offered with black roof. The dual-tone option is only available on the top-spec Alpha variant and is offered at a premium of Rs 16,000 over the standard paint. The dual-tone Alpha manual is priced at Rs 11.15 lakh and the automatic variant is priced at Rs 12.35 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz continues with the same powertrain

Mechanically, there is no change to the Ciaz, and that means it continues to be powered by a 105hp, 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic. The engine comes with mild-hybrid technology, and Maruti claims that the manual has a fuel efficiency of 20.65kpl and the automatic has a fuel efficiency of 20.04kpl.

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz: current and upcoming rivals

Launched back in 2014, the Ciaz is one of the oldest cars in the segment. It competes with much newer cars like the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna and the Honda City. The new generation Verna is India bound and bookings for it are already underway. Honda is also working on a mid life-cycle facelift for the fifth-generation City.
