In the run-up to the launch of Tata’s refreshed Tigor, which is scheduled to take place on October 10, 2018, new images of the compact sedan have leaked online.
As we had exclusively reported previously, the new Tigor gets mild tweaks to its headlamps and tail-lamps and there’s a new top-spec XZ+ trim that will be on offer.
The images that have surfaced online corroborate our report on the updated compact sedan, which in top-spec trim will be available with a new 7.0-inch Harman-sourced touchscreen infotainment system (with Apple CarPlay compatibility) that will double as a display for the reverse camera.
Additional features on the Tigor XZ+ include a rear centre armrest with cupholders, a driver's side seat-height adjust, power-folding wing mirrors, a shark fin antenna and a new blue exterior paint shade.
There are no mechanical changes and the Tigor is expected to continue with the same 85hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 70hp, 1.05-litre diesel engine. While lower trims get the option of either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT, the top-spec variant will only have the manual gearbox option.
Tata’s bid to take its smaller compact sedan more premium this festive season seems to be in answer to the rising new competition in the compact sedan segment, with Honda bringing in the second-gen Amaze, and Ford launching the Aspire facelift.
Expect prices to go up slightly overall, with the new top-spec trim on the Tigor costing about Rs 30,000 more than the current XZ (O) trim.
