In a welcome move, Tata Motors has announced the extension of its warranty and free service periods for customers across India. This initiative is similar to what multiple car and bike makers announced during the lockdown in March-April last year.

Due to the lockdowns across the country, several motorists are unable to tend to their vehicle’s scheduled maintenance. However, Tata Motors is doing its bit to ensure a hassle-free aftersales experience for its customers. The carmaker has announced that customers whose warranty and free service period (not kilometres) are due to expire between April 1 and May 31, will now be extended till June 30.
Speaking about the extension, Dimple Mehta, head of customer care (domestic and IB), PVBU, Tata Motors, said, "the Covid-19 upsurge has led to restrictions on movements, and customers across the country are unable to bring or send their vehicles to our authorised service centres for scheduled maintenance or repairs. Hence, it’s a challenge when warranty and free service periods, as per policy norms, get expired during the ongoing lockdown. We are committed to our customers and are offering them utmost support in these tough times by extending their warranty and free service period till June 30, 2021. Through this initiative, we are enhancing our brand connect with customers and are offering them a hassle-free ownership experience."
Apart from Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have also announced an extension on warranty and free service periods for their customers.
Tata Motors: what’s coming in 2021?
In 2021, the homegrown carmaker will introduce the HBX micro SUV, which has been spotted testing in AMT guise. The Tata HBX will be positioned between the Tiago and the Altroz in Tata’s line-up, and it will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT and the upcoming Hyundai AX micro SUV. When it’s launched later this year, expect Tata HBX prices to range between Rs 4.5-7.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
Tata Motors currently retails the Tiago and Altroz hatchbacks, the Tigor sedan and the Nexon , Harrier and Safari SUVs.
