Tata Motors has announced that it has produced five million passenger vehicles. Tata Motors started building passenger vehicles back in 1991, and their first model was the Sierra, followed by the Estate and Sumo in 1994. Since then, the brand has introduced multiple models, including the Indica, which has been one of the most popular passenger vehicles.
Tata Motors achieved the 1 million production mark in 2004. The second million came up six years later in 2010, it crossed the three million mark in 2015, and finally, 4 million in 2020. The brand has achieved the last million within three years despite COVID-19.
Commenting on this historic milestone, Shailesh Chandra, managing director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility said, “Today marks a celebratory moment in the history of Tata Motors as we celebrate our 5-million production milestone. This journey, from each million to the next, has been one replete with its fair share of ups and downs.”
“The brand is respected by its customers for bringing several new technologies and we express our gratitude for the support by our customers who have made this landmark achievement possible. We owe this milestone to our employees, suppliers, channel partners, government for their continued support.”
