Citroen C3 India launch, price announcement on July 20

Citroen India has revealed more details on the upcoming C3 and has also announced that the model will go on sale on July 20, 2022. The C3 is Citroen’s first mass market model for India and will take on high riding hatchbacks and the lower end of the compact SUV segment in our market. Citroen dealers will officially start accepting bookings for the C3 from July 1, 2020.

Citroen C3 India launch: what has been announced

The French brand has been steadily expanding its presence in the Indian market and has also revealed that it will have as many as 20 outlets spread across 19 Indian cities which will cater to existing customers as well as new customers. Citroen will have its showrooms in Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Gurugram, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Indore, Surat, Nagpur, Visakhapatnam, Calicut, Coimbatore and Chennai.

As we've reported earlier, the C3 is being built at the Thiruvallur plant near Chennai and its powertrain is being sourced from parent PSA’s facility at Hosur. The brand now confirms that the model has upto 90 percent of localisation. Additionally, Citroen says, the C3 has been tested for more than 25 lakh kilometres and has undergone over 250 quality checks.

The C3 in India will be sold with either an 82hp, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol or a 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. You can read more about the C3's powertrain and dimensions here.

On the features front, it gets a 10-inch touchscreen, a full digital instrument cluster with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and dedicated USB charging slots for front and rear passengers. As many as six exterior paint shade options are available on the Citroen C3, of which two are dual-tone shades. On the interiors as well, there will be two colour schemes – the lower variant will get an all-grey look, while the higher variants get a grey-orange layout.

Citroen India is betting big on customisation for the C3, as the brand has announced as many as three packs with 50 options, in addition to 70 accessories that will be available at the dealer level.
