Mercedes India is enjoying a good run with their AMG performance line and currently has 8 AMG models available in our market, offered in the 43, 53, 63 and GT series. These models, as well as previous AMGs, have all been imported into India as fully built up units. However, encouraged by the response to its performance range, Mercedes has decided to begin manufacturing some of these models here. The company says, its AMG line saw a healthy 54 percent YoY growth, last year.

    • Mercedes-AMG cars to be locally assembled, starting with the GLC 43 Coupe
    • GLC 43 Coupe prices expected to reduce by about 20 percent

The first model to be made in India is the AMG GLC 43 Coupe which will be followed by others, however, for now the company has not disclosed the exact details of the same. Thanks to local assembly of the model the company says that customers will have a price benefit and it estimates the ex-showroom cost of the updated GLC 43 Coupe, will be around Rs 80 lakh. For reference, the pre facelifted GLC 43 Coupe was launched in 2017 at an ex-showroom price of Rs 74.8 lakh.

Along with the manufacturing of the GLC 43 Coupe, Mercedes now has 11 CKD models that it currently makes at its plant in Chakan, Pune.
