New Maruti Dzire: dimensions, exterior design
The new Dzire is 3,995mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,525mm high, with a 2,450mm wheelbase and a 163mm ground clearance. Dimensionally, it is nearly identical to the outgoing Dzire except for in height where its 10mm taller. The front styling is a complete departure from the outgoing model, and unlike the previous-gen Dzires, the latest car doesn’t share its looks with the Swift at all.
At the front, the new Dzire gets a flat hood with subtle creases at each corner. The headlamps are stylish Audi-esque units with multiple crystal-like elements and blacked-out surrounds. Maruti calls them “crystal vision headlamps”. The hexagonal grille is bigger than before and features six horizontal slats, with the top-most featuring a piano black and chrome finish with a prominent Suzuki logo at the centre. The fog lamps are positioned at each corner next to the grille. These will get LED units for higher variants.
As for the side profile, the roofline now flows more gently into the boot area, and a closer look reveals freshly skinned panels, including new doors with more contoured surfaces and a subtly rising shoulder line. The alloy wheel design is new as well, with a diamond-cut pattern for higher variants and a simpler look for the mid-spec range.
At the back, the new Dzire has squarish tail-lamps with “3D Trinity LED elements”. They are smaller than the ones on the outgoing model but have a similar shape, with edges going upwards at each corner, which is connected via a chrome bar at the centre. The boot-lid design and the rear bumper look similar to the predecessor’s, save for some unique design elements at the lower end.
New Maruti Dzire: interior, features and tech
While the new Dzire’s exterior bears no resemblance to the Swift, its interior mimics the hatchback, except for some cosmetic differences and added features. Both cars share the same dashboard, with the Dzire getting a four-shade layout instead of the black and silver shade of the Swift.
The Dzire has a beige interior theme with dark brown bits, faux wood with an unpolished effect and a subtle dose of brushed aluminium. The multifunction steering wheel, analogue dials, HVAC controls and AC vents are also borrowed from the Swift. The infotainment system is the 9-inch Smartplay Pro Plus unit that sees duty on many other Maruti models, and comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity along with connected car features.
In a first for the Dzire, the fourth-gen comes with a factory-fitted sunroof. While it is a single-pane unit, it is the first instance of an under-four-metre compact sedan getting this feature. In another first, the new Dzire gets cruise control, rear AC vents, a rear centre armrest and a 360-degree camera in higher variants.
As far as safety goes, the new Dzire has six airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, three-point seat belts for all seats and ISOFIX mounts. Maruti has also equipped a standard rear defogger for all Dzire variants.

New Maruti Dzire gets the Swift’s Z-Series engine
The Z12E three-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine, which made its debut on the fourth-gen Swift this year, powers the new Dzire, making it the second Maruti model to be equipped with this powertrain. The power figures are identical to the Swift. It churns out 82hp and 111.7Nm of torque and is mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT automatic. In comparison, the previous Dzire came with a more powerful 90hp, 113Nm 1.2-litre four-cylinder K-Series engine.
The Dzire comes with an idle start/stop feature for both manual and automatic gearbox-equipped variants. As with other Maruti models like the Swift, we expect the new Dzire to get a CNG variant a few months after the launch.
New Maruti Dzire rivals Amaze and Aura
The new Dzire continues to have three direct rivals – Hyundai Aura, Tata Tigor and and the Honda Amaze – the last of which is also slated to get a full model change in the coming months. The bookings for the new Dzire are on, and deliveries are expected to start by the second half of this month.
