Tata Motors, or more specifically Tata.ev, as the electric division is now known, has launched two new showrooms in the National Capital Region today, which will be dedicated to retailing the brand’s all-electric vehicles, right from the existing Nexon EV and Tiago EV, to future products like the Punch EV, Harrier EV and Curvv EV.

    1. First Tata EV showroom to open on January 7, 2024
    2. Tata targets 2-3 showrooms in EV hotspots
    3. Showrooms to have separate workshops

The carmaker has announced that the first EV showrooms – in Sector 14 and Sohna Road in Gurugram – will open on January 7 next year, with two to three outlets in cities with higher EV adoption such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai opening in the next 12-18 months. Potential buyers can explore the tech-enabled showroom by themselves as Tata has seen that EV customers – a large segment of whom are early adopters – are well-researched and aware of the products. They can also ask for help if needed from sales consultants who have been trained to have more conversations and dialogues, rather than deliver sales pitches.

The company claims that each one of its showrooms will have a separate workshop to cater to aftersales services and other needs. In addition, each showroom is said to be ecologically constructed, with some of the walls even made from recycled plastic. There’s also sensor-driven LED lights, recycled and recyclable materials, and unfired clay bricks, says Tata. To further the eco-friendly mindset, the brand will organise yoga and other events through its Evolve community, and also make arrangements for partners who want to sell environment-friendly products at the outlet. The showrooms are also said to accept waste for recycling that customers can drop off.

The company currently sees 15 percent of its total volume and 20 percent of its revenue coming from EVs; the new showrooms, along with the upcoming additions to its EV portfolio, should help increase those figures.
