I currently own a Bajaj V15 and I am planning to buy a new bike for commuting and occasional long drives. My budget is ₹2 lakh. Please suggest a bike that offers good performance, mileage, and comfort.

Since you haven't specified what displacement range or style of bike you are looking at, we'll give you multiple options to choose from.

The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is a good option because it will be comfortable, stylish and will give you decent performance and fuel economy too. Another bike worth taking a look at is the Honda CB300F, which is a friendly naked bike that will also be comfortable and fuel-efficient. You can also take a look at the Hero Xpulse 210, which will be far the most comfortable machine of all the bikes mentioned here.

If you want to stick to the same displacement bracket, bikes like the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Bajaj Pulsar N160 are the options to consider. Take a test ride of everything you're considering before making a decision.

I am planning to buy my first bike with a budget of 2-2.5 lakh. I test rode the CB350RS, Meteor and Guerrilla 450. I didn’t find the CB350RS comfortable, the Meteor felt good but lacked highway power, and the Guerrilla 450 is over budget. I want a bike with a non-aggressive riding position and good comfort on highways and potholes. Please suggest suitable options.

Since this is your first bike, starting small and approachable would be the smart way to go about it. In that same vein, we would recommend the new Yamaha XSR155 because it is a light, comfortable, fuel-efficient machine that's also reasonably exciting to use.

If you want a larger machine, then bikes like the Honda CB300F, Bajaj Pulsar N250 and Suzuki Gixxer 250 would be good options.

Take a test ride of everything you shortlist before you decide.

Hello experts, I'm using Activa 125 since 2021 and recently my daily commute have shifted from public transportation to my activa. For 40 km daily commute with 15 km city and rest highway, I'm looking to buy my first bike which would make this experience better. My budget is upto 2.5L.

Since you have a commute that has some highway riding, we'll recommend bikes displacing 250cc or more so you can maintain decent highway speeds without feeling the engine is strained.

There are loads of options in your price bracket, like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, TVS Ronin, Honda CB300F, Bajaj Pulsar N250, Hero Xpulse 210 and TVS Apache RTX 300

Take a test ride of all the machines you shortlist before going ahead with your purchase.

Hello, Autocar. I have a maximum budget of ₹2 lakh on-road. Which is the best bike that I can buy for 50:50 city and highway use? I want a bike with decent power and torque to cruise comfortably at 90kmph on highways at low rpm. I also visit the hills 3 to 4 times a year, so the bike should perform well on ghats. Pillion comfort should be good too. I currently own an old Royal Enfield Classic and do not want to buy another Royal Enfield, as I find it unreliable, high on maintenance and unnecessarily heavy. Thanks.

Keeping your requirements in mind, the option that should be at the top of your list is the TVS Ronin. It has a smooth, torquey engine paired with neutral ergonomics and lovely ride comfort. Considering it has a flat and spacious seat, pillion comfort should also be quite nice for most folks.
Some other options you can look at are the Honda CB300F and the Bajaj Pulsar N250, both of which have aggressive looks but are actually very straightforward and easy to ride.
Take a test ride of all three to see which one suits you best.

I currently ride a well-maintained 2017 Avenger Street 220 Matte Black, chosen mainly for its low saddle height since I’m 5'2". I now want to upgrade but am unsure which bike will suit my height. I need something reliable, long-lasting, and suitable for daily use.

If you want to stick to the cruiser format, we would recommend the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 (seat height: 765mm) and the Royal Enfield Goan Classic 350 (seat height: 750mm).

Do bear in mind that these bikes - while fairly low - weigh close to 200kg, so you will need some time to adjust to their weights. If you're open to another form factor - more specifically, a sporty-looking street naked - we would steer you toward the Honda CB300F

That's because with its light 153kg weight and approachable 789mm seat height, it will be a very manageable bike.

Take a test ride of everything you shortlist before making the final decision.

I currently ride a 2014 Honda Unicorn 150. I’m looking to upgrade to a higher-cc bike that offers mileage around 40 km/L. My budget is ₹2 lakh. I need a pillion-friendly motorcycle suitable for family use. My daily commute is about 20 km. Please suggest options.

Since you have had a good experience with a Honda machine, you could stick with the brand and go with the Honda CB300F. The CB300F is light, comfortable, spacious and will return decent fuel economy. If you want to switch brands, the Bajaj Pulsar N250 and the Suzuki Gixxer 250 make for good upgrade options with their smooth engines and comfortable ergonomics.

If you don't mind staying in the same displacement range while getting a significant performance bump, the KTM 160 Duke and Yamaha MT-15 warrant consideration. With their liquid-cooled engines and light weights, these two will give you the performance step up you want without sacrificing on mileage.

I am 57 years old, about 5'2" tall and weigh around 60 kg. I plan to buy a new bike in April 2026. My daily city ride is 22–25 km in dense traffic, and I take occasional long rides of about 300 km to my native place. My budget is ₹1.5–2 lakh. Please suggest a bike suitable for my height, weight, and city riding conditions. Thank you.

Since you have some highway usage, we would recommend something like the Bajaj Pulsar N250 or the Honda CB300F.

Both can hold a steady 80-90 kmph without their engines feeling strained. Another option you could look at is the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, if you’re open to owning an RE.

All three are good to use inside the city, although expect relatively lower fuel economy on the Hunter than the Pulsar or CB300F.

I currently own a TVS Jupiter and travel around 50 km daily, with 50% highway and 50% bumper-to-bumper traffic. Please suggest a bike with modern looks and a decent mileage of 35–40 kmpl. My height is 5.6 ft.

Keeping your requirements in mind, a 250-300cc sporty commuter like the Bajaj Pulsar N250, Suzuki Gixxer 250 or Honda CB300F will be a good fit. All three have modern looks, the required fuel efficiency you desire and will strike a good balance between city and highway duties.

I am 5'5" tall, slim built, and weigh around 60 kg. My inseam length is about 32 inches. I have been riding a TVS Ntorq 125 scooter for the past seven years and have never ridden a bike before. Please suggest a suitable first bike for city riding, preferably above 125cc but below 350cc. I tried the Hunter 350 but found it heavy, and I had to stretch my arms and lean forward to feel confident, so I dropped the idea. Please help. Thanks.

Given that you want something manageable and this will be your first bike, here are a few options we recommend.

The Honda CB300F and CB300R are both lightweight, well-built, and have low seat heights. You could also check out the KTM 250 Duke or the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250. Both are mechanically identical, but they differ in styling and riding posture, the Vitpilen has a slightly taller seat than the Duke.

All these are fun and entertaining first bike with a reasonable performance ceiling to keep you interested for a long time.
