Hyundai Motor India has announced plans to install 50 fast-charging stations in India by the end of 2024. This initiative is part of a wider plan to set up 600 fast-charging stations in the country in the next seven years. These charging stations will be accessible to all four-wheeler EVs that are sold in India.

  1. Hyundai has sold 4,061 EVs in India by November 2024
  2. Creta EV to launch in January 2025
  3. 50 locations to be covered by DC fast chargers by 2024-end

Hyundai has been selling EVs in India for some years, and its first product was the now-discontinued Kona EV. The company currently sells the Ioniq 5 EV, which has gathered a decent fan following. Hyundai has conveyed that it has sold 4,061 EVs in India till November 2024.

Hyundai’s first mass-market EV for India, the Creta EV, will go on sale next month, and the introduction of fast-charging stations across the country will help Hyundai support buyers of the upcoming Creta EV and its other future EV products. By the end of 2024, Hyundai India’s DC fast public charging network will cover over 50 locations across major highways, cities and dealerships.

Customers can use the myHyundai app to utilise Hyundai’s charging network, which also has partnerships with providers like ChargeZone, Statiq, Shell India, and others.

Additionally, Hyundai has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government to set up 100 EV charging stations across the state by 2027. Out of these, 10 will be operational within the Calendar Year 2024, according to the announcement. Out of these 10, three are already functional, and the remaining seven charging stations will be fully operational shortly, said Hyundai.

Hyundai’s fast-charging network in India has facilitated around 50,000 charging stations so far, dispensing over 7.30 lakh units of energy to more than 10,000 users of Hyundai and non-Hyundai vehicles.
