    Hyundai Samarth initiative announced for people with disabilities

    Hyundai India has rolled out “Samarth – Progress for Humanity”, an inclusive mobility initiative specially designed for people with disabilities in India. The brand has also partnered with two organisations, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled and GoSports Foundation.

    Hyundai India says it will revamp its outlets to make them more inclusive, adding that it aims to upgrade all its dealerships and workshops to be wheelchair-accessible by February 2024.

    Hyundai also announced that it will introduce swivel seats and other features to make its car and SUV line-up more friendly for the differently abled. 

    Additionally, Hyundai and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled will support differently-abled individuals with assistive devices and there will also be an all-new programme introduced that will use blind cricket as a platform in pursuit of physical and social development of the visually impaired in India. There will also be special camps for visually impaired cricketers at all levels. Moreover, the programme will also organise an international bilateral series for the national blind cricket team.

    Hyundai India and GoSports Foundation will also jointly introduce an exclusive programme to provide support to para-athlete teams and individuals in India.

    Un Soo Kim, MD and CEO of Hyundai India, said: "We are pleased to announce the launch of the ‘Samarth’ initiative, which is a step towards creating a more aware and inclusive society towards differently abled in India. We aim to cultivate a more equitable and sensitised society for the differently abled and want them to see their true capabilities.”

    As far as upcoming models go, Hyundai will introduce the heavily updated Creta in India next year along the the Creta EV. The Alcazar and the Tucson will also see mid-cycle refreshes next year.
