The Kia Carens facelift, which is set to be introduced next year, will go into series production by May, according to our sources. There have been sightings of multiple test mules of the updated MPV, and we have earlier reported that the company will also introduce an EV powertrain with the refreshed line-up.

    2. New design for alloys, tail-lights and bumper
    3. Expected to pack more features, including an ADAS suite

Kia Carens facelift: what will be new?

The Carens facelift is being tested simultaneously in India and South Korea. The MPV will get comprehensive cosmetic changes that will bring an all-new look to the front and rear of the MPV, including reprofiled bumpers and new grille and headlamps. There will be some changes in the cabin, too, possibly to the dashboard design; expect interior bits to be shared with the Seltos. It is also expected to get new features such as a 360-degree camera and an ADAS suite, the latter being segment-first.

The Carens will carry forward the existing engine options – a 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel with multiple choices of manual and automatic gearboxes. The big news on the powertrain front is that the MPV will also get an all-new electric powertrain, will go on sale likely at the same time as the facelift, making it a direct rival to the BYD eMax 7 in our market.

Kia Carens facelift: production, launch details

The Carens EV will be built alongside the ICE versions and will have a monthly production run of around 2,000 units, at least for the first year.
