Toyota has reopened bookings for the top-spec ZX and ZX(O) trims of the Innova Hycross hybrid, which were halted this May. The company had cited overwhelming demand as the reason for halting bookings, but the top-spec hybrid variants are now available to order again, although the waiting period continues to be high.
- This is the second time bookings were halted and re-opened
- Innova Hycross hybrid waiting period is at 6-8 months
This, in fact, is the second time that Toyota has halted and reopened bookings for the ZX and ZX(O) hybrids variants. It first paused bookings in April 2023 due to supply related issues and resumed them one year later.
Toyota had been struggling to keep up with the demand for the hybrid variants, which the company claims makes up over 50 percent of the Innova Hycross’ sales. And that’s despite the premium it commands over the regular petrol models.
Toyota, however, has since been working to streamline several internal processes and increase production capacity to deal with the overwhelming demand. Reopening bookings for the top-spec ZX and ZX (O) trims suggests the company has overcome the situation to some extent. In fact, a majority of the increased production capacity has specifically been allotted to the hybrid variants.
Toyota Innova Hycross waiting period
Toyota currently lists a pan-India average waiting period of 13 months for the Innova Hycross hybrid on its official website, but our dealer sources suggest a waiting period of approximately 6-8 months, depending on the location. However, if demand surges again, there is a possibility that bookings will also be halted again. The company is working to bring down the waiting period to under six months by the end of this year. The regular petrol variants currently have a waiting period of approximately six months.
