Trending Questions on Maruti Suzuki Wagon R - Answered by Autocar Experts
I need an automatic car within a budget of โน7.5 lakh, and I prefer Maruti Suzuki. Could you please suggest some options?
You should choose between the Maruti Suzuki Ignis Zeta AMT and the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 1.2 AMT ZXI Plus. Both models are powered by 1.2-litre petrol engines that give them a power advantage over other automatic Marutis in your budget (namely, Celerio, Alto K10 and S-Presso).
Both use automated manual transmission or AMT-type automatics. While these aren't the slickest automatic gearboxes, Maruti's AMTs work smoothly enough if you adopt an easygoing driving style. Fuel economy is also excellent.
Of the two, the Wagon R is more spacious and has a more absorbent ride comfort. On the other hand, the Ignis packs in more features for the same money. If cabin space isn't a deal breaker, opt for the Ignis.
I am a first-time car buyer. Although I have a driving licence, I am not very confident while driving, especially in city traffic and during parking. I am considering buying a used car first to gain confidence and then upgrading to a new one later. I feel more comfortable with an automatic transmission as it allows me to focus on steering and speed control. However, some people have advised me to learn from a manual first. I am almost 6 feet tall and was initially considering the Wagon R, but a few friends suggested the Ignis instead. I am confused about whether to buy a manual or an automatic and which car to choose. I am confident that I can drive an automatic hatchback better than a manual, even if I buy a new one. Please advise.
Sir, I wish to purchase a fully automatic car within a budget of โน8 lakh. This is my first car and I donโt have any driving experience. I am looking for a safe, reliable hybrid or petrol with CNG car for 70% city and 30% highway driving. Which car model and company is suitable for me? Kindly advise.
You can go for CNG if the network in your city is good, and the car that you can pick is the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R. It comes with 6 airbags, taking care of your safety requirements. Also, it comes with an antilock braking system and electronic brake distribution.
Moreover, it gives great fuel efficiency with CNG, and you have the benefit of switching to petrol when you want. The other option is the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, again a reliable car with good features.
I am 62 years old and 5'11" tall. I already have a Creta high-end and want to buy a small car below โน10 lakh for local driving. I am considering the Wagon R or Tata Punch. Which is the better option for easy entry/exit and convenience for my neck?
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is the right pick for your requirements. Its high seating makes getting in and out very easy. The large glasshouse also gives a great view of your surroundings, so you won't need to crane your neck for a better look.
The Wagon R is also easy to drive, though we'd recommend the 1.2-litre petrol version for its added power. The standard 1.0-litre petrol feels dull, especially on inclines.
I am 65 years old and will be superannuating from service soon. My current car is chauffeur-driven. I am now looking for a comfortable automatic car for city use that I can drive myself, with occasional long trips of up to 300 km. My budget is โน8 lakh on-road. Please suggest suitable options.
I am looking for a compact car in the NCR to help my wife learn driving and for my elderly dad to use for short city runs. I want it to be reliable for 3-4 years. It should have good visibility and easy driving manners. I have a budget of about โน5 lakh for a used car. I am looking for a petrol automatic, ideally a CVT. I have shortlisted the Honda Jazz but am worried about BS-IV issues during GRAP times. I am not yet ready to go electric. Should I still consider a used car, or should I stretch for a new one?
Buying a BS4 car in Delhi NCR is not a good idea, as you run the risk of being unable to use it when the AQI worsens and GRAP measures are implemented. This can disrupt your commutes and cause significant inconvenience. If you want to buy a used car, we suggest looking for a BS6 option or a vehicle that is no more than 5 years old.
You can visit spinny.com to see what is available. Ideally, you should stretch to a new car that is fully compliant with the latest regulations. This means it will also be designed to run on E20 fuel, unlike vehicles before 2023.
A Maruti-Suzuki Wagon R would be the ideal new car for you. Its high seating position offers the double benefit of making learning to drive easier for beginners and making it easier for elderly people to get in and out. Wagon R prices range from Rs. 6-8 lakh, depending on the variant.
Hi, I am planning to buy a new petrol car for my parents, which will be mostly driven by my father. My budget is โน8 to 8.5 lakh. I am also planning to sell the car later using an exchange offer. Should I buy the car in December 2025 or wait until next year? Should I go for an automatic or a manual? I prefer a high seat position!
My elderly parents, who are over 80 years old, stay in a remote subdivision town. We need a car to visit doctors and occasionally go to relativesโ houses. The expected monthly travel is approximately 400 km. We want to invest in a budget-friendly car like a Wagon R. We once had a first-generation Alto, but had to sell it due to age. Please suggest a suitable car.
For your usage, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R can be an excellent choice. It is one of the most spacious budget cars, and its reliability is well documented.
Maruti has the most expansive service network; you won't find it difficult to find service stations, which can be an issue for other brands, as your parents live in a remote location.
The variant we recommend is the Wagon R VXi Manual with the 1.0-litre engine. The 1.2-litre engine is worth considering only if you frequently drive in hilly areas, as it makes uphill driving a bit more effortless.
Iโm looking for a car for a daily commute of about 60 km and prefer CNG. I have shortlisted the Wagon R and Tiago. The Wagon R seems to offer much more value. What do you suggest?
If you are finding more value in the Maruti Wagon R, you should go ahead with this, as in the end, that is what matters to you. However, do bear in mind that the boot of the Wagon R is completely filled with the large single CNG tank and the spare tyre, thus leaving practically no space for even small bags.
The Tata Tiago CNG, on the other hand, has the spare tyre underneath the car and comes with a dual CNG cylinder setup which sits below the boot floor, thus leaving you with a decent amount of luggage space.
I am planning to buy the Wagon R ZXI next month since it is spacious. What is your opinion?
