Maruti Brezza vs Tata Punch vs Hyundai i20: best city car under Rs 10 lakh?

A city runabout should have an effortless driving experience, which is a combination of a tractable engine, good ride quality and practicality.

I am confused between the Maruti Suzuki Brezza LXi petrol manual, Tata Punch Adventure automatic and Hyundai i20 Sportz petrol manual. My budget is between Rs 8 lakh-9 lakh, and I will primarily drive it in the city for about 10km every day, with an occasional 200km drive on the highway. I want a safe, reliable and cheap to maintain car that will serve me for many years until an EV becomes mandatory, and/or petrol is banned.

Autocar India says: We would advise you to go for the Brezza as it is the most spacious, reliable and practical of the cars you have shortlisted. It’s very user friendly for the city and good on the highway too. The issue with the Punch is that it comes with a small 1.2-litre engine that’s not as effortless to drive as the Brezza. The i20 also has a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and the 1.0 turbo-petrol variant would be overkill for your limited usage. Also, the Brezza has just been updated, so when you go to sell it won’t be very old.
