- The second-gen RS7 will go on sale in India on July 16
- Bookings began in late June; deliveries slated to commence in August
- The model will be offered with a high degree of customisation
Audi India opened its order books for the RS7 Sportback just two weeks ago, and now the company has announced that the super sedan will make its debut in our market on July 16, 2020. The model will be the fourth in the German marque’s revamped India line-up which also includes the A6 and A8 sedans and the Q8 SUV.
What is the RS7 Sportback?
The latest RS7 Sportback is the full-blooded version of the standard, second-gen A7 four-door coupe. It sets itself apart using numerous styling cues including a massive front grille and air dams and a prominent rear diffuser with twin oval-shaped exhausts. Wider than the standard car, the RS7 wears 21-inch wheels which can be bumped up to 22-inchers as an optional extra. Expect Audi to offer its complete range of customisations on the upcoming model.
On the inside, the next-gen RS7 is new-age Audi. Taking centre stage is a dual touchscreen setup which is further complemented by the automaker’s Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster. An RS flat-bottom steering wheel, paddle shifters, aluminium pedals and Alcantara upholstery further accentuate the model’s sporty pretensions.
What powers the RS7 Sportback?
The RS7 is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo petrol V8 that pushes out a colossal 600hp and 800Nm of torque. The other headline figure is a 0-100kph time of just 3.6 seconds. Power is put down at all four wheels through Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system and an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
48V mild-hybrid system and cylinder deactivation tech are also part of the package but don’t expect the RS7 to top any efficiency charts.
What is the expected price of the RS7 Sportback?
Orders for the RS7 can be placed on the Audi India website and at authorised dealerships for a booking amount of Rs 10 lakh. Being a full import, the RS7 will be expensive with prices touted to be in upwards of Rs 1.8 crore (ex-showroom). Delivers are expected to commence in August 2020. As such, the RS7 Sportback will contend with the likes of the Mercedes-AMG E63 S and BMW M5 Competition in our market.
