Honda records sales of over 15 lakh units in India

    Honda records sales of over 15 lakh units in India
    Honda Cars India has announced that it has crossed sales of 15 lakh units cumulatively in the country since its entry into the market in1998.
     
    The carmaker currently sells the Brio and Jazz hatchbacks, Amaze, City and Accord sedans, and BR-V and CR-V SUVs in the Indian market.
     
    In March 2012, the company crossed sales of five lakh units, and then three years later, in October 2015, breached the 10 lakh cumulative sales mark. 
     
    Honda marked its entry into the Indian market with the City in January 1998. The premium sedan has been one of the largest contributors to the company's cumulative sales, followed by the Amaze and the Honda Jazz.  
     
    "The success in the Indian market is strongly associated with Honda's advanced design and technology, reliability, durability, and fuel-efficiency that characterises our DNA," Rajesh Goel, senior VP and director of Honda Cars India said in a statement. In April-August 2018, Honda sold 79,599 units in India, up 9 percent from the 73,012 units recorded in the corresponding period last fiscal. 
    The company will launch the new Honda CR-V SUV in India on Ocotber 9, 2018.
