Mahindra Racing rider Sarath Kumar finished third at round three of the CIV-Italian Championship in Monza.

The Indian rider had finished fourth on the road but was moved up to the final spot on the rostrum after third place finisher Andrea Mantovani was disqualified due to engine irregularities.

The race featured only five finishers in the 125GP class, which had seven starters. Retirements included his Italian teammate and double-winner Ricardo Morreti.

After round three, Kumar climbs to fifth place in the riders' championship with 22 points while Moretti lies second with 50 points.

"A podium finish at the Italian Championship is a dream come true for me! I got off to a good start and was able to recover a lot of positions up to the 14th place", said Sarath.

"It was my first time in Monza, a circuit I am quickly getting accustomed to - it’s a really fast one! I want to thank all my technical staff, my manager and team Mahindra for their support.”

The next round of the CIV is scheduled on June 23rd and 24th at Mugello's Autodromo Nazionale.
